Small Bird Tote Box

These handy little cardboard boxes are 5"x4"x4" or 5"x4"6½" if you add in the handle. I recommend you use these only for finches and canaries. Any larger species of parrot (even the tiny parrotlet) could chew through the box in little time.
These boxes were originally designed to be used by vendors ate bird fairs and by the pet shop industry to give the buyer of a new pet bird an easy and say way to transport the bird home. I still use them when selling birds at fairs in fact.
They are small enough to be very easy to carry and dark enough on the inside to help keep the tiny bird calm. Keep out of direct sunlight when the bird is in the box to prevent over heating.
They are also very useful for accurately weighing a finch for growth records or to monitor a sick finch. Simply zero the scale with the empty box on it, put the bird in the box and re-weigh.
